about the artist

Aster, sometimes also known as Charlie, is an artist with a fascination in the fields of biology from the Canadian Pacific Northwest. They are currently based in the state of Massachusetts while pursuing their BFA in Illustration with a Minor in Creative Writing. Recently, their art has taken the form of comics, zines, poetry, storytelling, and risograph printing, which they use as a vessel for exploring the duality of decay and growth in the natural world.

mycorrhizal

"Mycorrhizal" is a horror science fiction comic currently in development. On a hiking trip with their two best friends in the Cascade Range, 20-year-old biology student Rowan O’Byrne vanishes in the woods without a trace of their physical form left behind. After surviving and returning home with the help of an ancient forest entity, Rowan must realize what it means to be haunted and changed by things beyond their control, with nothing to rely on but the stories surrounding them.
